
Dr. Sean Barnett is a board-certified general surgeon. He received his medical degree
from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency at
Loyola where he was named the Outstanding Chief Resident in Trauma.
Dr. Barnett has been practicing general surgery in the northwest suburbs since 2005
and holds leadership positions at several area hospitals. At Northwest Community
Hospital, he is a member of the Cyberknife Committee, which oversees the treatment
of tumors with stereotactic radiosurgery. He also serves on the hospital’s Pharmacy
and Therapeutics Committee. At Alexian Brothers Medical Center, he serves on the
Surgical Quality Assurance Committee.
Dr. Barnett is a member of several professional associations including the Illinois
Surgical Society, the Chicago Surgical Society, the Cyberknife Society and the Society
of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He is trained in advanced
trauma operative management and is certified in Advanced Trauma and Life Support.
Additionally, he has published research on prevention of pancreatic leaks after
pancreatic surgery. Dr. Barnett practices general surgery with special interest
in hernias, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancers, minimally invasive procedures
and stereotactic radiosurgery of liver, pancreas and other intra-abdominal malignancies.
